Electrolube, the global electro-chemicals manufacturer, has been awarded the new global standard for Occupational Health and Safety, the ISO 45001. The company achieved the certificate on its first attempt, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to providing a safe and healthy workplace, as well as reducing occupational injuries and ill-health.
The highly anticipated new standard replaces the international former workplace health and safety standard, the OHSAS 18001, which officially ends in March 2021. Electrolube has successfully migrated from the former OHSAS 18001 well in advance of the standard’s expiration date, which illustrates the company’s driven ethos to achieve excellence across all levels of the organisation and its clear focus on continual improvement for site Health and Safety.
The new ISO 45001 accreditation joins Electrolube’s current ISO 9001 Quality Management and ISO 14001 Environmental Management credentials, enabling the company to offer three respected ISO standards to the broad range of manufacturing industries it serves. Achieving three ISO standards is an extraordinary achievement for a chemical manufacturing organisation and endorses Electrolube’s steadfast commitment to health and safety and reducing environmental impact.
Certain sectors are particularly strict in the selection of supply chain partners, who must demonstrate not just excellence in terms of product quality and performance, but also the quality of their staff, their manufacturing processes and manufacturing environment. Electrolube’s products and manufacturing processes are compliant with a wide range of internationally recognised standards, including the International Automotive Task Force’s new global quality management standard, IATF 16949, and the prEN 9100 internationally recognized Quality Management standard, specific to the aerospace, aviation and defense industries. The company also won the Queens’ Award for Enterprise 3 years ago and many of Electrolube’s products meet strict Underwriters Laboratory standards for flame retardancy as well as comply with many European and American military specifications.
Ron Jakeman, Managing Director of Electrolube comments, “We are delighted to be awarded the ISO 45001 standard, which acknowledges our commitment to achieving the highest standards in our health and safety practices across all of our international sites. Our compliance with the new global health and safety management standard is an important accomplishment for us as a specialist electro-chemicals manufacturer, and it joins an extensive host of standards that our products and services currently meet both at our UK headquarters and internationally.”
